Designed for fitness and rehabilitation professionals to increase their knowledge and practical application of tensegrity biomechanics of the human body through targeted ELDOA™ spinal decompression exercises.

What is ELDOA™?

ELDOA™(Étirements Longitudinaux avec Decoaptation Osteo-Articulaire) are a series of precise postural exercises developed by French osteopath Dr. Guy Voyer.
Each ELDOA™ targets a specific joint or spinal segment to create decompression, improve hydration, enhance circulation, and restore joint mobility.

In true, real life application of biotensegrity, ELDOA™ uses precisely directed self-induced myofascial tension to target the decompression of selected joint segments throughout the body.

In other words, ELDOA™ engages different fascial chains in active postures using end range muscle contraction. This tensional engagement produces separating forces around the targeted joint segment via the fasciae's bony attachments.

There are numerous ELDOA™ exercises for the spine, the hip joints, the joints of the shoulder girdle, ribcage and pelvis.

Here are some of the immediate benefits you can feel right after doing an ELDOA session:

  • Decompression of joints with improved range of motion→ You often feel lighter and more "spaced out". - This is mainly because the tension/compression of the joint complex is normalised resulting in changes in tissue viscosity, improved synovial fluid movement and better sliding of adjacent fasical layers surrounding the joint.

  • Pain relief → Especially in the spine, hips, shoulders — tension eases off. - This is due to decompression of nerve roots and decreased tissue viscosity which means better nerve gliding and less noniceptive (pain receptor) stimuli.

  • Improved posture → Your body naturally "stacks" better without forcing it due to improved kinesthetic sensation via exteroceptive and proprioceptive stimulation.

  • Increased blood and fluid circulation → You feel warmer, more mobile and more energized. More space between means more room for fluid flow and fluid exchange between the different components of connective tissue.

  • Reduction in muscle tightness → Deep muscles "let go" without aggressive stretching. Reduced fascial viscosity, reduce tone of tension receptors and nociceptors, normalised muscle tone between opposing muscle group explains that.

  • Nervous system calming → Many people feel a sense of deep relaxation after. This mainly comes from the normalisation of fascial tension and pain receptors and stimulation of the sympathetic trunk.
